🦊 Installing MetaMask

💻 Desktop – Browser Extension
Install MetaMask as a browser extension in Chrome, Firefox, Brave or Edge.
Step 1 – Visit the Official Website
Open your browser and type the address manually:
https://metamask.io
⚠️ Warning: There are fake websites with similar names. Always double-check the URL!
Step 2 – Install the Extension
Click "Download" – you will be redirected to your browser's extension store.
Click "Add to Chrome" and confirm in the popup.
✅ Works with Chrome, Firefox, Brave and Edge.
After installation, the 🦊 fox icon will appear in the top right of your browser.
Step 3 – Create a New Wallet
Click the 🦊 fox icon → "Create a new wallet" and agree to the terms of use.
Step 4 – Choose a Secure Password
Create a strong password for local access on this device.
Password tips:
- ✅ At least 12 characters
- ✅ Upper/lowercase letters, numbers and special characters
- ✅ Store your password safely or use a password manager
Step 5 – 🔑 Back Up Your Secret Recovery Phrase
🚨 THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT STEP!
MetaMask will show you 12 secret words – called the Secret Recovery Phrase.

🚨 Anyone who knows these 12 words has full access to your wallet – forever!
MetaMask will NEVER ask you for this phrase.
Step 6 – Confirm Your Phrase
MetaMask will ask you to retype some of the words in the correct order – for your own security.
💡 Look at your handwritten note when confirming – not at the screen!
Step 7 – 🎉 Your Wallet is Ready!
Your MetaMask wallet is set up. You will see:
- Your Ethereum address (starts with
0x...) - Your balance (0 ETH to start)
- Buttons to Send, Receive and Buy
🍎 iPhone – iOS App
Step 1 – Open the App Store or go to the MetaMask Website.
Open the App Store on your iPhone and search for "MetaMask". Or go directly to the MetaMask Website

⚠️ Important: Check that the developer is ConsenSys. Only download from the official App Store or Website – fake copies exist!
Step 2 – Install & Open the App
Tap "Get" and confirm with Face ID, Touch ID or your Apple password.
Step 3 – Create a New Wallet
On first launch, tap "Create a new wallet" and agree to the terms of use.
Step 4 – Set Up Password & Face ID
Create a secure password. Then enable Face ID or Touch ID for quick and secure access.
✅ Tip: Enable biometrics – convenient and still secure!
Step 5 – 🔑 Back Up Your Recovery Phrase
Same as Desktop: MetaMask shows you 12 secret words. Write them down by hand!
🚨 No screenshots on iOS!
Photos are automatically synced with iCloud. Write the words on paper!
Never on iOS:
- ❌ No screenshots – iCloud syncs automatically!
- ❌ Do not save in Apple Notes or iCloud Drive
- ❌ Never send via iMessage or WhatsApp
Step 6 – 🎉 App is Ready!
Your wallet is set up. You have access to:
- Your balance
- Send & Receive crypto
- The built-in DApp browser
🤖 Android App
Step 1 – Open the Google Play Store or go to the MetaMask Website.
Open the Google Play Store and search for "MetaMask". Or go directly to the MetaMask Website

⚠️ Important: Check that the developer is ConsenSys. Only install from the official Play Store!
Never download APK files from third-party websites – this is a common scam!
Step 2 – Install & Open the App
Tap "Install", wait for the download to finish, and open the app.
✅ The interface on Android is nearly identical to iOS.
Step 3 – Create a New Wallet
On first launch, choose "Create a new wallet" and agree to the terms of use.
Step 4 – Set Up Password & Fingerprint
Create a secure password. Then enable the fingerprint sensor or face recognition on your device.
Step 5 – 🔑 Back Up Your Recovery Phrase
MetaMask will also show you 12 secret words on Android. Write them on paper!
🚨 No screenshots on Android!
Google Photos automatically syncs images to the cloud. Write the words on paper!
Never on Android:
- ❌ No screenshots – Google Photos syncs automatically!
- ❌ Do not save in Google Drive or Google Keep
- ❌ Never send via WhatsApp, Telegram or SMS
Step 6 – 🎉 App is Ready!
Your MetaMask wallet is ready on Android! You can:
- Manage your balance
- Send & receive crypto
- Use DApps via the built-in browser
